The Chair of Atuqtuarvik Corporation, Mr. John M. Hickes, has announced the approval of a loan by Atuqtuarvik Corporation to Nunamiut Company Ltd. of Baker Lake, Nunavut.

Betty Natsialuk Hughson, President of Nunamiut Company Ltd. Says, ?the loan greatly assisted Nunamiut Company Ltd. acquire ownership of the Arctic Inn in Baker Lake, now known as Nunamiut Lodge.?

The Nunamiut Lodge will be the base of operations for the Baker Lake Cultural Tours and Resort, which will become a full-feature Inuit cultural wilderness resort, providing customized tours and services to meet the needs of individuals and groups seeking adventure, recreation, meetings, education or training.

Baker Lake Cultural Tours and Resort will be dedicated to strengthening the bond between the human spirit and the Arctic ecosystems. The company is committed to providing professional, quality, friendly customer service, oriented to sharing, respecting, and enjoying the natural and cultural heritage through a sustainable lifestyle with the guests.

Atuqtuarvik Corporation provides investments and loans to Inuit owned businesses creating benefits for Inuit. Investments and loans from $100,000 to $3 million are available for commercially viable Inuit-owned business projects that include start-ups, acquisitions and expansions in all sectors of the economy. With its own earnings as well as additional funds from the earnings of the Nunavut Trust, Atuqtuarvik Corporation is expected to grow to at least $50 million over the next three or four years.
